Herbert Zucker also has a long history of working with many nonprofits and charities, including the Children’s Medical Fund of New York.
Founded in 1966, the Children’s Medical Fund of New York (CMFNY) is a volunteer-driven nonprofit that was instrumental in launching what is now known as the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York in 1983. The CMFNY continues to serve as one of the hospital’s largest contributors and has raised more than $87 million.
The CMFNY helped fund the Children’s Medical Fund Center for Pediatric Diagnostic Studies at Cohen Children’s Medical Center. This center is designed to make MRIs less scary to children by incorporating a space exploration motif on the walls and ceilings, making children feel as though they are going into space when they receive their MRIs. They are able to pick the color of the room and choose videos to be projected onto the wall while the MRI is taking place. Children can also watch movies during the examination.
This center will treat more than 4,500 children annually, and will make a huge difference in the lives of children.
