Merrill Lynch & Co. was founded in 1914 by Charles E. Merrill and initially called Charles E. Merrill & Co. A year later, Edmund Lynch joined the firm which was then renamed to Merrill, Lynch & Co. The firm began as a bond house, underwriting securities, and trading companies’ debt that wanted to raise money from investors. Over the years, the firm has grown to become one of the American financial sector’s iconic institutions.
Headquartered at 250 Vesey Street in Manhattan, Merrill Lynch & Co. focuses on wealth management. However, the firm has also expanded its services by acquiring and merging with several firms.
