For many decades, Herbert Roy Zucker from Glen Cove, New York, has worked in both real estate and financial services. In addition to his roles at Bear Stearns & Co and Merrill Lynch, Herbert Roy Zucker was at one time employed at financial services firm Morgan Stanley.

Morgan Stanley announced in a June 2021 press release that it had donated $2.12 million dollars to Feeding America. The money was actually donated through the fund raising arm of the firm, Morgan Stanley Foundation. This donation includes a $1.94 million grant that went to 28-member food banks across the country, making it possible for families and children to choose from available foods and food boxes and pantries and program sites.

This money will come in handy because it will allow food banks to provide their clients with an element of food choice. Not only will allow families to choose from healthier options, but also from options that align with their dietary requirements and preferences.

This funding comes at an urgent time for the Feeding America organization. As COVID continues to effect families across the country, Feeding America estimated that 42 million adults and 13 million children will have faced food insecurity in 2021. Additionally, in the year following the onset of the pandemic in March 2020, Feeding America saw a 55 percent spike increase in the number of people who needed food assistance.

Morgan Stanley Foundation is committed to helping Feeding America with its mission to eradicate food insecurity. Since the onset of donating funds to Feeding America 60 years ago, Morgan Stanley has donated more than $38 million to the charitable organization’s network.
